Warmachine Khador army in the making

My girlfriend and I bought the Warmachine two-player starter set almost two years ago. I havent got any time to paint or game with them until now. Since I havent done much miniature painting since the late 1980′s i experimented on some Mantic Games miniatures first, then painted up a couple of Khador warjacks and did some basing experimentation. Here’s the result so far:

Base is still wet from dilluted PVA, and havent been washed and drybrushed yet.

I really should have painted these warjacks using an airbrush. Looks OK for gaming, but not excactly masterpieces. Lets see how drybrushed grass on the base looks like…

Drybrushed the scenic grass using light yellow. Looks OK.

Small Hill – work in progress

Started my new semi-modular wargaming table project by making a small hill with stairs and a flat paved top suitable for any small fortification or tower.

First I glued a peice of EPS and some cardboard to a 2mm thick MDF board using PVA glue.

Attached miniature plaster rocks castings to cardboard using filler. Rock castings were made using Woodland Scenics / Noch rock molds.

The filler really made those plaster rock castings stuck to the cardboard.

Primed & sealed the plaster and filler with thick protective acrylic brick paint.

Another protective layer of paint: Army Painter white spray primer.

After this I washed the rocks with very dilluted dark grey acrylic paint.

Overall came out a little dark. Still havent done any drybrushing yet…

Needs more colour, drybrushing, moss, and static grass.

Scale testing with painted Mantic Orcs and an unfinished small bricked Hirst Arts tower.

Next: Rock drybrushing and some static grass. Letting the whole thing dry until next year first.
